Nationalism

Nationalism is the religion of a country, the flags are the great idols that embody their gods. The patriotic songs are the hymns that they sing in their sanctuaries the memorials of their fallen heroes. The Constitution is the bible that they base their laws off of and only the Congress, their priests, may interpret. Their prophets are the politicians, they speak on behalf go the nationalists' gods, the founding fathers. The role of the masses are the same as in any religion, they are to be mindless followers who do as told, they must not question their priests, or their prophets, or the reason their heroes are being sent to die in a far off land. The masses, from here on will be called the workers, must do as the prophets and priests says or the angles, the police, will punish them. The workers must divide themselves from the evil enemy nations because this one nation is morally correct while the rest is not, because this one nation has a noble goal, or this nation must defend themselves from the great threat imposed by the enemy nation. But the workers may not question the prophets and priests because the workers are not educated enough in the nation's holy scriptures to question their authority.
          What does the workers have you may ask? I will reply thusly, we have an idol cloaked in red, but we only have a creed not a bible, as our creed must be flexible. We have no set hymns, and no prophets or priests, we also have no holy land. My brother and sisters, we are an internationalist entity, we surpass boarders, creeds, ethnicities, and sex. We are an international being with the power to change the world and the ability to establish democracy. On another note, we must not support or fight in the wars of the wealthy, they are exploiting our physical power to gain, their wealth grows with the war market, the current wars are growing the international market and is spreading their greed across the globe, thus I'd the nature of capitalism.
   What is my rational that nationalism is not to be allowed to grow? My rational comes from history, the World Wars and modern day to be exact. World War I we see a massive surge of nationalism in Europe,this caused each country to believe that they were the most powerful and the war would be over in months. In WWII Germany had a surge of nationalism because of Hitler, this nationalism caused fascism, and deaths of over 9 million lives. Their government was hyper-capitalistic, as in the wealthy privatize everything, the media, the wealth, the armed forces, and education. Labour movement were also demonized and suppressed and any opposing political party was not allowed to run. I believe fascism is a perfect example of what nationalism leads to and leaves open for the country. Also I believe this is what the USA is coming into.
  In the USA there are two parties that run in the elections, these parties are basically the same party, no third party has ever been able to win an election. In the USA all wealth is held in private hands and so is the media, education, and armed forces. The labour movements are suppressed and demonized.
  What can we do? We stop thinking in the nationalist mindset and start thinking internationally. That way we can unite and work for the common good of all despite our differences.
